City Court handles only misdemeanor offenses. A misdemeanor is a crime that is less serious than a felony and is usually punishable by fine, penalty, forfeiture, or confinement in a place other than prison.
Pressing Charges
To press charges at City Court, an individual must come into our office and fill out the necessary paperwork. Afterwards, if the District Attorney accepts the charges, the individual pressing charges will sign an affidavit, and the person on whom the charges are being pressed will be notified that charges have been filed against him/her. There is no charge for this procedure.
